• Runs and interprets Finite Element Analysis (FEA) — translates stress, displacement, and failure results into geometry decisions; df3d builds its own FEA tools and fluency with simulation output is required
• Structural, thermal, and modal analysis — not just running software, but understanding what the numbers mean for the geometry
• Creates complex organic 3D structures: biomorphic geometry, internal lattice logic, generative surface patterns that balance aesthetics with structural performance
• Topology optimisation thinking — removes mass and complexity while preserving functional geometry
• Identifies fabrication failure modes at the design stage before anything physical is made
• Translates ambiguous client requirements into precise, defensible technical geometry
• Cross-domain thinking: bridges art direction, engineering constraints, and fabrication realities in a single design
• Proficient with Blender and df3d's own suite of CAD and analysis tools
• Mentors and reviews work across Junior Designer and Designer levels
